1. Oliver Ellsworth was born in Windsor on April 29, 1745 and he died on November 26, 1807.
2. He was born to the family that wanted him to be a minister. After studying under the Reverend Dr. Joseph Bellamy he entered Yale College in 1762. Entering Princeton, where no notable misbehavior marred his record, he graduated in 1766.
3. He opened a law office in Windsor in 1771. He didnt have alot of money so he was forced to walk the twenty-mile round trip when the General Assembly and courts met. After that he moved to Hartford.
4. He helped to draft the first ten amendments to the Constitution and the Judiciary Act of 1789.
5. He attemped to win over the common man, especially the farmers.
6.Returning to Connecticut in 1801, he was again chosen a member of the upper house where he served until his death.
